This NBA season, we’ll be providing you with free NBA DraftKings lineups every day! Here’s the first one, for tonight’s NBA action on October 16th.
PG – Markelle Fultz, Philadelphia 76ers, $5,000
Outlook: Markelle Fultz was the #1 pick for a reason. He’s extremely explosive, and averaged over 23 PPG, 5 APG, and 5 RPG in college at Washington. His jump shot disappearing while he was injured last season is one of the strangest storylines you’ll ever see, but after working on it all summer, it seems to be back. Fultz will likely be in the starting lineup tonight for the 76ers, and I think he’s worth it for a cheap price.
SG: Terrance Ferguson, Oklahoma City Thunder, $3,300
Outlook: Ferguson didn’t see much playing time in his rookie season last year, and averaged just 3 PPG. However, it is likely that Ferguson will be starting tonight since Andre Roberson is out. Ferguson has some flashy athleticism, and with Russell Westbrook out, he’ll have more opportunities than normal.
SF: Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics, $5,600
Outlook: After Jayson Tatum went off in the NBA Playoffs last season, he’s a popular candidate to become an NBA All-Star this season in a weak Eastern Conference. I expect Tatum to continue where he left off last year, and have a great season. His price is extremely cheap for someone who I think can average 35 DraftKings points per game.
PF: Paul George, Oklahoma City Thunder, $8,000
Outlook: With Russell Westbrook out, Paul George becomes the first option in OKC. Last season, there was a lot of speculation that George would only be with the Thunder for a year, but now that he’s signed long-term, a ton of pressure is off him. He also has a lot to prove as the Thunder had a down year in 2017-18 as they only had 48 wins. I think there’s a decent chance that Paul George scores over 30 points tonight, and over 45 DraftKings points.
C: Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors, $7,300
Outlook: Draymond Green is expected to be on a minutes restriction tonight with a knee injury. However, a minutes restriction for Draymond Green probably still means in the high 20s. This is a guy who stuffs the stat sheet and is a near triple-double in almost every game. For that reason, he’s DraftKings gold, and for a price of $7,300 I’ll take him.
G: Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics, $7,600
Outlook: It’s going to be exciting to watch Kyrie Irving play in his first game back from injury tonight. Before being injured, Kyrie was averaging over 24 PPG and over 5 APG in his first season in Boston. With all the talent around him, expect that assist number to go up a bit this year. I also like Kyrie’s matchup tonight against Markelle Fultz, a player who is going to be great, but hasn’t gone up in big minutes against a stud point guard yet.
F: Ben Simmons, $8,400
Outlook: Ben Simmons had one bad game against the Celtics in the playoffs last season where he only scored one point. Other than that, he stuffed the stat sheet in that series. Coming off his rookie season where he averaged 16 PPG, 8 RPG, and 8 APG, I expect those numbers to go up a bit this season. Simmons is like Draymond in the sense that he stuffs the stat sheet. With a ton of available salary left, I love taking him.
UTIL: Terry Rozier, $4,500
Outlook: Terry Rozier is my pick to win Sixth Man of the Year this season. Scary Terry was a monster filling in for Kyrie Irving last season, and showed that he could start on several other NBA teams. Rozier will still receive significant minutes off the bench even thought Kyrie Irving’s back, and I think he’ll average 15-16 PPG this season. At $4,500, he’s a steal.
