Full Trade Details:

76ers Outlook:

What a trade this is for the 76ers. Going into this year’s trade deadline, everyone expected the 76ers to make a few trades… but for bench pieces. Not only did the 76ers get a starter in this deal, but they got a player who should have been an all-star and would have been an all-star in the Eastern Conference. Tobias Harris is having a phenomenal year, averaging 20.9 PPG, while shooting 49.6% from the field, 43.4% from 3-point range, and 87.7% from the free throw line. Harris has a legit shot at joining the 50/40/90 club by the end of the season, which is ridiculous.

According to Woj, the 76ers are expected to try and retain Tobias Harris long-term. Harris becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2019 season.

Not only did the 76ers get Tobias Harris, but they got Mike Scott and Boban Majanovic, two players that can be valuable bench pieces going forward. In addition, they gave up draft capital and a young player in Landry Shamet, but I don’t mind that since they have a ton more draft capital saved up from trades in years prior. The 76ers went for it in this trade, and let me tell you, after this trade, the 76ers are clear favorites to make the NBA Finals out of the Eastern Conference. Look for Philly to head to the buyout market as well in a couple of weeks to enhance their bench.

Clippers Outlook

Just because this was a phenomenal trade for the 76ers doesn’t mean this wasn’t a great trade for the Clippers as well. Jerry West was able to get 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and Landry Shamet for a contract that was expiring. There was a high chance that the Clippers weren’t going to re-sign Tobias Harris, especially with the the upcoming free agent class of Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, and more. The Clippers want to land someone huge, and they’re in a great position to do it financially, as this trade created more cap space for them. Keep an eye on Danilo Gallinari at tomorrow deadline or around the NBA Draft. If the Clippers can trade him before free agency, they’ll have room to sign two max free agents. This isn’t your typical good trade for both teams, but rather a phenomenal trade for both teams.
